German electro producer Marek Hemmann has been around for over twenty years making the kind of gently euphoric, eminently danceable, minimal tech house that’s exhibited here. Also worth checking out is his poppier, more song based project with Fabian Reichelt, Marian.
The mysterious Chicken Lips here, with their monstrous 2002 electro epic He Not In, a track which teases you over the course of its almost nine minutes by continuously adding extra elements in pinches and spoonfuls, before really taking flight for the final three minutes.
Mucho thanks to Eilish for reminding me to post this epic spacedisco banger of a remix by Serge Santiago of Goldfrapp’s Ride A White Horse from way back in 2006. In Eilish’s own words “it sounds like a helicopter landing on the dancefloor”. Can’t argue with that!
I reckon this is the best remix that’s been done of the sublime Ms. Alison’s work, but special mention must also go to Gui Boratto for his equally impressive mix of A&E from a couple of years later.
And to top it all off, Goldfrapp are back this summer with their sixth studio album. Can’t wait!
I’m a big fan of both of the originals mashed together here. DJBearGrlz favourite John Dahlbäck’s Embrace Me blended in with Ellie Goulding’s Lights works really well in a charty, hands-in-the-air kinda way.
Recommended listen on your commute to work of a Monday morning.
